    Per questo viaggio a Pechino, ho scelto nuovamente di soggiornare presso il Friendship Hotel Beijing, situato al civico 1 di Zhongguancun South Street, nel distretto di Haidian. Per gli ospiti che preferiscono organizzare i propri itinerari in autonomia, l'aspetto più interessante dell'hotel non è tanto il suo vasto giardino in stile Suzhou (esteso per diecimila metri quadrati), quanto la sua posizione privilegiata lungo una delle principali arterie di collegamento. Uscendo dall'hotel ci si ritrova all'angolo sud-ovest del ponte Sitong – punto di intersezione tra la North Third Ring Road e Zhongguancun Street – godendo di un livello di accessibilità e flessibilità strategica raro tra le strutture ricettive della capitale.
    L'accesso alla metropolitana è il vero punto di forza dell'hotel. Con una piacevole passeggiata di 400 metri (circa 5-7 minuti) dall'ingresso est, si raggiunge l'uscita D (sud-ovest) della stazione Renmin University, servita dalla Linea 4/Linea Daxing. Senza fronzoli appariscenti, il suo vero valore risiede nel senso di tranquillità che si prova quando — trascinando la valigia oltre il familiare cartello circondato dal verde all'uscita D della stazione Renmin University — ci si rende conto di essere a pochi minuti dal relax, con collegamenti diretti pronti a portarti ovunque la giornata di domani ti condurrà.

  • Un'oasi verde nascosta che attraversa sette decenni

    Durante un recente viaggio d'affari nel distretto di Haidian a Pechino, ho scelto deliberatamente di evitare le catene alberghiere standardizzate a favore di Friendship Hotel Beijing. La camera conservava quel "tocco vintage" spesso citato dagli ospiti: gli arredi non erano minimalisti o moderni, bensì caratterizzati dalle tonalità calde del legno massello e da un raffinato stile di Suzhou. Sebbene le strutture non fossero nuovissime, erano impeccabilmente pulite e ben tenute. L'unico piccolo inconveniente è la vastità del complesso: occorrono circa dieci minuti a piedi per andare dall'Edificio VIP al giardino Su Yuan, un tragitto che può risultare faticoso sotto il sole estivo torrido. Consiglio di prendere una mappa alla reception all'arrivo o di prenotare una camera più vicina agli edifici che si intende visitare.
    Il Friendship Hotel Beijing non ostenta il lusso appariscente dei grandi alberghi; al contrario, attraverso i suoi settant'anni di storia – che si riflettono nel verde, nelle murature in mattoni e nelle tegole – trasmette un raro senso di tranquillità e stabilità.
